Self-portraits have been an integral part of my artistic practice, intended to document who and where I am at given moments. I started shooting them as a young teenager and during lockdown, i’d document my apartments and my body. Coming of age during covid was confusing and harsh – I struggled a lot with the idea of growing up, finding my place in the world and unresolved trauma that trapped me in my body. I was completely disassociated and stuck in ptsd symptoms. For a few years I lived in Hamburg, wandering around searching for purpose and frankly trying to come back to life. While I felt lost in the city, I was surrounded by inspiring creatives. The concept to this shoot was an embodiment of that self, between idealised fantasy and messy reality. Together with Kate, Akasha and Emilijah, we curated my first studio Self-Portraits and brought the visuals to life.
